BofA Securities' Global Research report published Friday named information technology the sector's most valuable sector in the MSCI AC World Index, with the highest return for global equity.
returns for ACWI info tech are 26.3% year-on-year, followed by ACWI telecommunications, at 24.2% year-to-date, ACWI energy, at 16.3 year-to-date, ACWI industrials, at 6% year-to-date and ACWI financials, at 0.1% year-to-date.
The ACWI utilities sector led the negative returns with losses of 10.5% year-on-year. ACWI real estate, which has losses of 9.4% year-to-date, was followed by ACWI consumer staples, 4,5% loss year-to-date; ACWI biotechnology, 4,2% loss year-to-date; ACWI materials, at 3.2% loss year-to-date; and ACWI banks, at 2.2% loss year-to-date.
BofA said the highest-earning commodities are WTI crude oil at 16.7% return year-to-date, Brent crude oil at 12.5%, and iron ore at 7.8%. Platinum was the lowest at -17.4%.
The biggest assets were oil, US equities, and Japan equities.
