PTI Changes Punjab CM Candidate Amid Political Uncertainty

Amidst political uncertainty, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has altered its candidacy for Punjab chief minister. According to ARY News, after extensive consultations, the party has nominated Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan as its new contender.PTI Secretary General Hammad Azhar announced the decision on social media, revealing that party founder Imran Khan had initially nominated Mian Aslam Iqbal. However, heavy police presence outside the Punjab Assembly prompted the party to reconsider its choice.Azhar stated that following consultations with Imran Khan, the party leadership settled on nominating Rana Aftab. Prior to this, PTI had announced its candidates for chief ministers in other provinces: Mian Aslam Iqbal for Punjab, Salar Khan for Balochistan, and Ali Amin Gandapur for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.The announcement came after a meeting at Adiala Jail between Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Imran Khan, as reported by ARY News. Mian Aslam Iqbal, considered an absconder in the May 9 case, was among the PTI leaders who took the oath as members of the Punjab Assembly.On Friday, the first session of the assembly saw 85 PTI members sworn in. Earlier on Saturday, Malik Ahmed Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged victorious as the new Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, surpassing the challenger from the Sunni Ittehad Council.
