Joyce Takes Break from Parliament Amid Family Issues

Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce has received medical advice to take a break from parliamentary duties following an incident in Canberra last week. Party leader David Littleproud stated that Joyce had made an error in judgment, but emphasized that there were also family circumstances involved. Littleproud strongly encouraged Joyce to utilize this time off to address these personal matters.

Consequently, Joyce has decided not to attend parliament this week. He has informed Littleproud of his decision and is taking advantage of the opportunity to spend time with his family. Littleproud expressed respect for Joyce's choice and acknowledged the need for him to prioritize his well-being.

Despite his absence from parliament, Joyce has continued to participate in political discussions. He recently gave an interview on Channel Seven, where he expressed his views on border protection and renewable energy.

In the wake of Joyce's incident, Independent MP Zali Steggall has raised concerns about the need for random drug and alcohol testing at parliament. Joyce's office has yet to comment on this proposal.
