Cheetah Project Review: Madhya Pradesh and Union Ministers Meet

On Monday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Bhupender Yadav convened a review meeting for the "Cheetah Project" in Sheopur district.

CM Yadav expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project, which was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, and then-CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He emphasized the project's potential to not only protect cheetahs but also other wildlife species.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Aseem Shrivastava explained that the meeting focused on advancing the Cheetah Project through public participation. A Cheetah Safari is also in development on 180 hectares of land, with work currently underway on 56 hectares. The Supreme Court granted permission for the Cheetah Safari on February 18th.

Shrivastava stated that completing the Cheetah Safari project would require over two years due to its scale. Currently, the Kuno National Park houses 21 cheetahs, including 13 adults and eight cubs. The project enjoys ample support from both the central and state governments.
