Kejriwal to Appear in Court After ED Remand Ends in Liquor Scam Case

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to appear before a Delhi court on Thursday, as his Enforcement Directorate (ED) custodial remand concludes. The ED had arrested Kejriwal last Thursday in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

On March 22, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja remanded Kejriwal to ED custody until March 28. The ED alleges that Kejriwal was involved in the Delhi liquor scam conspiracy, drafting and implementing the policy to favor certain parties, receiving kickbacks, and using the proceeds for the Goa Assembly election campaign.

The court ordered Kejriwal's remand to facilitate detailed interrogation, uncover the remaining proceeds of crime, and confront him with evidence gathered during the investigation. The court also directed that Kejriwal be produced before it at 2 PM on March 28.

On Thursday, the ED has the option to seek an extension of Kejriwal's custodial remand or request the court to send him into judicial custody.
