TMC Leader Mahua Moitra to Campaign in Constituency, Skips Enforcement Directorate Summons

TMC leader Mahua Moitra has decided to prioritize her campaign in the Krishnanagar constituency over attending a summons from the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi. This comes in the midst of the ED's investigation into a FEMA contravention case involving Moitra and Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani. The 49-year-old leader has been summoned multiple times by the central agency, with previous appearances being postponed due to official obligations.

Despite facing expulsion from the Lok Sabha in December, Moitra has been renominated by the Trinamool Congress to contest from West Bengal's Krishnanagar seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The recent raids conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation on her premises, in connection with the cash-for-query case, have added to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding her actions. This development follows directives from the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal, instructing the CBI to investigate allegations made against Moitra by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
