## Prime Minister Modi Accused of Neglecting Manipur Amidst Violence

The Congress party has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of abandoning Manipur during the ongoing violence and questioned his support for Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the Prime Minister for not visiting the state since the violence began on May 3, 2023, and for not meeting with state officials or acknowledging the crisis. He contrasted this with Rahul Gandhi's visits to Manipur to show solidarity with the people.

Ramesh described the situation in Manipur as a "civil war" with over 200 deaths, 60,000 displaced people, and widespread lawlessness. He criticized the Prime Minister's inaction despite the Supreme Court observing a breakdown of constitutional machinery in the state.

Ramesh questioned the Prime Minister's claims of global leadership while ignoring the anarchy in Manipur and his inability to stop the violence there. He also highlighted the boycott of elections by Kuki youth and the BJP MP's self-proclaimed title of 'Maharaja,' which violates the Indian Constitution.

The Congress demands the Prime Minister address these issues, take responsibility for the crisis, and dismiss the Biren Singh government.
