Ramban Gears Up for 2024 Parliamentary Elections with Security March

## Ramban Police and CAPF Conduct Route March Ahead of 2024 Parliamentary Elections

In preparation for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary elections in India, the Ramban Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) conducted a route march through Ramban Town on Monday, April 15th. This initiative aimed to instill a sense of security and harmony within the community, ensuring free, fair, and fear-free elections.

The police provided a general briefing on the upcoming election duties, outlining the roles and responsibilities of both the police and CAPF. The route march served to instill confidence in voters, assuring them of a secure and peaceful environment to participate in the electoral process without fear.

This measure emphasizes the importance of free and fair elections, enabling every citizen to exercise their democratic right to vote freely and without constraint.

Previously, Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, had six Lok Sabha constituencies. However, following the abrogation of Article 370 by the Parliament, Ladakh no longer has a Lok Sabha constituency.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP won three seats, while the National Conference won the remaining three.

This election marks the first since the Supreme Court ruling last year, which upheld the Parliament's decision to abrogate Article 370 and bifurcate the state into two union territories. The court also directed the Election Commission of India to hold the next assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir before September 30th, 2024.

Amidst the Central government's efforts to promote 'Naya Kashmir' through infrastructural development, welfare schemes, and reduced terrorism, Jammu and Kashmir will undergo its first general elections commencing from Udhampur.
