## Congress Leader Pawan Khera Questions Probe Agencies on Corruption Allegations

Congress leader Pawan Khera held a press conference on Monday, raising questions about the lack of action by probe agencies on allegations of corruption against the Union government. He cited reports by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) that he claimed contained "serious allegations" of irregularities in infrastructure projects.

Khera specifically mentioned the Bharatmala Pariyojana and the Dwarka Expressway, both of which fall under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways headed by Nitin Gadkari. He alleged that the ministry issued bonds worth Rs 1 lakh crore without the approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. Additionally, he claimed that the National Highway Authority of India, which functions under the same ministry, took huge loans "without application of mind" and doubled its construction costs.

Khera questioned the inaction of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in investigating these allegations. He pointed out that during the Congress rule, similar allegations in CAG reports led to nationwide agitations.

He further expressed concerns about the future of the Constitution, stating that many BJP leaders have made statements about changing it if they win 400 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Khera also criticized the BJP's manifesto and the electoral bonds scheme, claiming that people no longer believe the ruling party's promises.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for change after 10 years and highlighted the Congress party's positive agenda, including the five "nyay" (justice) guarantees proposed by party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
