## Prime Minister Modi to Address Mega Rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a massive rally in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday. He will be campaigning for Union Minister and BJP candidate Jitendra Singh, who is seeking re-election for the third consecutive time from the city's Lok Sabha seat.

The rally is expected to draw a crowd of over two lakh people, marking Prime Minister Modi's third visit to the union territory since February. He previously addressed rallies in Jammu and Kashmir's capital cities on February 20 and March 7.

"Prime Minister Modi is arriving in some time... We have a huge gathering coming to listen to him. People are enthusiastically waiting," Singh told reporters.

Extensive security measures have been implemented for the rally, including a multi-layered security system, advisories for attendees, and deployment of security personnel along the Jammu-Udhampur highway and key junctions.

The abrogation of Article 370 has become a central theme in the Jammu and Kashmir election campaign, particularly in the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat. The seat will witness a three-way contest, with the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) nominating three-time MLA G M Saroori and the Congress fielding Choudhary Lal Singh.

In the 2019 elections, Jitendra Singh defeated Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh, grandson of the erstwhile Maharaja Hari Singh. In 2014, he secured a landslide victory against former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
