Sony and Nature Launch Award to Champion Women in Technology

## Sony and Nature Launch Award for Women in Technology

In an effort to champion women in the technology field, Sony Group Corp. and Nature magazine have partnered to create the "Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature." This international prize will recognize outstanding female researchers working in technology domains, where women are significantly underrepresented.

The award aims to address the gender imbalance in technology research, where women account for only around 30% of all professional researchers and less than 20% of those in the technology sector. By providing a platform for emerging women researchers and engineers, the award hopes to celebrate their work and inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

The first three winners of the award will be announced early next year and will each receive $250,000 in research funds. Applications are open to researchers in the fields of mathematics, science, and engineering who obtained their undergraduate degrees less than 25 years ago. At least one winner will be in the early stages of her career, having obtained her undergraduate degree less than 15 years ago.

Applications can be submitted through the award's website (https://womenintechnology.sony.com/) until the end of May. The winners will also have the opportunity to showcase their research work and achievements on Nature's website.

This initiative reflects Sony and Nature's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the technology sector. By recognizing and supporting the achievements of women researchers, the award hopes to contribute to a more equitable and innovative future for technology.
