Tamil Nadu BJP Alleges Voter List Discrepancies, Demands Re-polling

## Tamil Nadu BJP alleges voter list discrepancies and demands re-polling

On Friday, Tamil Nadu BJP president and Coimbatore candidate K Annamalai alleged "political interference" after numerous voters discovered their names missing from the state's voter list. He demanded re-polling in areas where a significant number of voters reported missing names.

"We received complaints from numerous voters about their names being absent from the voters' list. This occurred in numerous locations," Annamalai stated. "We demand re-polling in areas where a substantial number of voters' names were missing. We suspect political interference because the names of many BJP members were absent from the voter list," he added.

Annamalai also criticized the Election Commission for failing to provide basic amenities at certain polling stations. "The Election Commission has shown little interest in senior citizen transportation. In Palladam, we can see polling stations lacking basic amenities," the BJP leader remarked.

As the first phase of polling began in Tamil Nadu's 39 seats, several voters across Chennai were shocked to discover their names missing from the voter list, preventing them from exercising their franchise.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, the average voter turnout in Tamil Nadu's 39 constituencies stood at 39.51 per cent till 1 pm. The south Parliament constituency of Chennai recorded a voter turnout of 28.92 per cent till 1 pm, while the Chennai north constituency witnessed 29.05 per cent and the central Parliament constituency recorded 28.08 per cent.
