Apple has announced its intention to invest more than $250 million in the expansion of its regional campus or operations in Singapore's Ang Mo Kio district. The company's plans involve upgrading two buildings acquired in 2022, situated across from its current offices, to enhance its presence and capabilities in the region. With a history dating back to 1981 when it opened its initial facility in Singapore with a focus on the Apple II personal computer, Apple now boasts a workforce of more than 3,600 employees in the city-state.
Expressing his pride in the strong connection Apple has established with Singapore's vibrant community, Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, highlighted the city-state's unique appeal as a hub for creators, learners, and dreamers. The company's growth in Singapore over the years has positioned it as a key operations center in the region, with its presence evolving significantly from its early days with just 72 employees to now housing thousands of staff. As part of his Southeast Asia tour, Cook is set to meet with Lawrence Wong, Singapore's prime minister-designate, and the city-state's current leader, Lee Hsien Loong, this week to further solidify Apple's commitment to the region and its close ties with Singapore.
