Kerala CM Vijayan Slams EC for Inaction on Modi's Alleged Anti-Muslim Remarks

## Kerala CM Vijayan Slams Election Commission for Inaction on Modi's Alleged Remarks

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his strong disapproval of the Election Commission's (EC) inaction regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent alleged remarks against Muslims. Vijayan, a seasoned Marxist leader, asserted that the EC should have acted swiftly and demonstrated its non-partisan stance in this matter.

"It is unfortunate that the EC has remained silent on this issue," Vijayan stated at a press conference. "This is a situation where the EC ought to have acted immediately, but till now it has been silent."

He further emphasized the importance of the EC upholding its neutrality and impartiality, particularly during election season. "The EC should have shown it was non-partisan. It should have acted immediately," he stressed.

Vijayan's criticism stems from Modi's remarks during a poll rally in Rajasthan, where the Prime Minister alleged that the Congress party, if elected, would redistribute people's wealth to Muslims. He further accused the Congress of planning to give people's hard-earned money and valuables to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children."

These statements drew sharp criticism from Vijayan, who accused Modi of engaging in a communal campaign aimed at inciting anti-Muslim hatred. He stated that such rhetoric only serves to strengthen anti-BJP sentiment in the nation and will ultimately lead to the saffron party's further isolation.

"Because of such statements by the PM, the anti-BJP sentiment in the nation is strengthening and the saffron party will be isolated even further," Vijayan asserted.

He further indicated that this issue may need to be brought before the Supreme Court for proper adjudication.

"This is an issue which would have to be raised before the Supreme Court," Vijayan concluded.

The Election Commission's silence on this matter has raised concerns about its ability to remain impartial and uphold the principles of free and fair elections. Vijayan's criticism highlights the importance of the EC taking swift and decisive action in such situations to ensure that all political parties and candidates are held accountable for their actions and statements.
