Arvind Kejriwal Disputes Tihar Administration's Claims About Insulin Requirements

Arvind Kejriwal, the prominent political figure and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), recently found himself at odds with the Tihar administration over his daily need for insulin while in jail. Kejriwal voiced his disappointment after reading statements from the Tihar administration that contradicted his requests for insulin, highlighting glucose metre readings showing consistently high blood sugar levels ranging from 250 to 320.

In response to the Tihar administration's assertions that there were no concerns about his health, Kejriwal emphasized his daily need for insulin, backed by glucose level readings showing fasting sugar levels between 160-200. The AAP leader expressed disbelief at claims that he had not raised the issue of insulin, pointing to his consistent demands for the medication to manage his blood sugar levels effectively.

Despite Kejriwal's pleas for a video conference with his doctor and initiation of insulin in jail, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Tihar authorities reportedly opposed these requests. AAP leader Atishi accused the ED and Tihar administration of colluding to deny Kejriwal the necessary medical care, with authorities allegedly basing their decisions on consultations with AIIMS doctors that contradicted Kejriwal's own health concerns and insulin requirements. The dispute has raised questions about the transparency and adherence to medical needs within the prison system.
