Kerala Gearing Up for Lok Sabha Elections with Extensive Preparations

Kerala is gearing up for the Lok Sabha elections on April 26, with elaborate arrangements in place to ensure a smooth and accessible voting experience for all. The state has set up 2,730 polling stations across Trivandrum district, equipped with webcasting facilities for real-time monitoring.

District collector Geromoc George emphasized the comprehensive measures taken, including dedicated dispatch and reception centers for each assembly segment and separate queues for elderly voters. Additionally, ramps, wheelchairs, and shaded areas have been arranged for physically challenged individuals and those seeking respite from the expected warm weather.

Kerala's Chief Electoral Officer, Sanjay Kaul, highlighted the state's commitment to providing a comfortable and convenient voting experience. He mentioned the deployment of volunteers to manage queues, the availability of drinking water and toilet facilities, and the efforts to ensure a 70% polling party presence at booths by the morning of the election.

The final day of campaigning witnessed a vibrant display of support for both major candidates, Shashi Tharoor of the Congress and Rajeev Chandrasekhar of the BJP. Both candidates engaged in a spirited "Kottikalasam" event, a traditional show of strength where supporters gather adorned with party flags.

With extensive preparations and a high-profile contest in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is poised for a significant turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
