Boyko Borissov Criticizes PP-DB and Coalition Partners in Bulgarian Parliament

Boyko Borissov, leader of the GERB party, did not mince words during a parliamentary session when he labeled PP-DB as hypocrites for forming a new coalition with Vazrazhdane and the Bulgarian Socialist Party. Borissov pointed out that this alliance simplified matters for him by eliminating potential inquiries into other political groups such as the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and We Continue the Change.

Expressing his concerns about the political landscape, Borissov raised the issue of the resignation of National Assembly Speaker Rosen Zhelyazkov, a move pushed by We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria, BSP for Bulgaria, and Vazrazhdane. Borissov's reaction to this push for resignation hinted at his dissatisfaction with the current political dynamics and the alliances being formed within the Bulgarian Parliament. As Borissov addressed the chamber, he warned of a series of upcoming caretaker governments, a prediction that underscored his belief that the political situation in Bulgaria was becoming increasingly unstable.

In his speech, Borissov also alluded to external influences on Bulgaria's energy policies, specifically mentioning Russia. He highlighted his intention to inform Bulgaria's international partners about the reasoning behind certain decisions, hinting at the connection between domestic politics and foreign affairs. Despite his evident frustration with the ongoing developments, Borissov emphasized that GERB would remain a principled opposition force, urging the public to pay attention to the actions of all parties and vote accordingly in order to prevent similar situations from arising in the future.
