Allegations of Molestation Against West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose Spark Controversy

Amidst ongoing allegations of molestation against West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose, Trinamool Congress leader Shashi Panja expressed shock and disappointment, highlighting how the Governor's actions have tarnished the reputation of his position and the institution he represents. The victim of the alleged molestation incident, a staff member at the Raj Bhawan, was initially hesitant to file a complaint due to the Governor's powerful stature, according to Panja.

Speaking ahead of the Prime Minister's visit to the state, TMC Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya revealed that a woman had filed a complaint accusing the Governor of molestation. She criticized the Governor's conduct, pointing out the contradiction between his pledge to establish a "peace room" at the Raj Bhawan and the alleged mistreatment of women by the Governor. In response to the allegations, Governor Bose dismissed them as "engineered narratives" and reiterated his commitment to combat corruption and violence in Bengal, refusing to be intimidated by attempts to malign his reputation for political gain. Additionally, the Governor took action against Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya by banning her entry into the Raj Bhavan premises in Kolkata, Darjeeling, and Barrackpore due to defamation and anti-constitutional media statements made against him. He also opted out of attending any event where Minister Bhattacharya would be present and sought legal advice on further steps against her. Furthermore, the Governor restricted police entry into the Raj Bhavan to prevent what he described as unauthorized and politically motivated investigations during elections.
