Congress Attacks Modi Government Over Manipur's Crisis, Accuses It of Apathy and Remorselessness

Congress Attacks Modi Government Over State's Situation

The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over the situation in Manipur, accusing it of being apathetic and remorseless towards the state's ongoing crisis.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in a series of tweets, highlighted the plight of the people in Manipur, stating that the state has been burning for a year since May 3, 2023. He blamed the "cruel combination" of an apathetic Modi government and an inept BJP state government for dividing the state and causing immense suffering.

Kharge pointed out that over 220 people have been killed, 60,000 displaced, and thousands continue to languish in camps. He also condemned the violence against women and the lack of action from the Prime Minister.

"A remorseless PM Modi has not set foot in this border state, for it exposes his rank incompetency and absolute indifference. His ego has damaged the social fabric of a beautiful state," Kharge charged.

He further criticized the government's silence on the issue, questioning why the Prime Minister has not visited Manipur even for a few minutes despite campaigning in other northeastern states.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also joined the attack, accusing the Modi government of abandoning the people of Manipur and outsourcing the state's management to the Home Minister, who he deemed "hopelessly inadequate, insensitive, and incompetent."

Ramesh blamed the BJP's divisive politics for the current situation in Manipur, stating that the party's policy of "Bluff and Rule" has prioritized manipulating communities without addressing their concerns. He warned that this approach is now threatening the social fabric of Nagaland as well.

The Congress leaders expressed solidarity with the people of Manipur and called for peace and social harmony to be restored in the state.
