Congress Accuses Modi Government of Apathy and Incompetence in Handling Manipur Crisis

Congress Attacks Modi Government Over Situation in Manipur

The Congress party has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over the situation in Manipur, accusing it of being apathetic and remorseless towards the ongoing crisis.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, in a post on social media, highlighted the plight of the people in Manipur, stating that the state has been burning for a year since May 3, 2023. He blamed the Modi government's apathy and the BJP's inept state government for dividing the state and causing immense suffering.

Kharge pointed out the devastating impact of the violence, with over 220 people killed, 60,000 displaced, and thousands languishing in camps. He condemned the government's silence on the issue, particularly Prime Minister Modi's failure to visit the state and address the situation.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh echoed these sentiments, accusing the BJP of abandoning the people of Manipur and outsourcing the state's management to the Home Minister, who he deemed "hopelessly inadequate, insensitive, and incompetent." He attributed the current crisis to the BJP's divisive politics and its failure to address the concerns of the people.

Ramesh further criticized the Modi government's policy of "Bluff and Rule" in the Northeast, which he believes has exacerbated the situation in Manipur and Nagaland. He highlighted the dismal voter turnout in Nagaland's Lok Sabha elections as a testament to the BJP's detrimental impact on the region.

The Congress leaders expressed their solidarity with the people of Manipur and their hope for a swift return to peace and social harmony. They emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of all sections of society and ensuring justice for the victims of the violence.
