Noida McDonald's and Theobroma Bakery Under Investigation After Customers Fall Ill

McDonald's and Theobroma Under Investigation

Following complaints from consumers who fell ill after consuming food items, authorities in Noida have collected samples from a McDonald's outlet in Sector 18 and Theobroma bakery in Sector 104. The complaints were registered on the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

In the first incident, a customer reported falling sick after eating a burger and french fries at the McDonald's outlet. The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) team in Gautam Buddh Nagar promptly visited the restaurant and collected samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise for testing.

"We received a complaint on the portal against McDonald's. The customer fell ill after consuming aloo tikki and french fries. We have taken action in this regard and taken samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise," said Archana Dheeran, Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The second incident involved a woman who became ill after consuming a stale cake from Theobroma bakery. The FDA team collected a sample of the pineapple cake for laboratory analysis.

"In another case, a complaint came against Theobroma bakery where someone fell ill (in Noida) after consuming stale cake from the bakery...We took a sample of the pineapple cake and sent it to the laboratory...If the product fails in the report, then a case will be registered," Dheeran added.

The test results are expected within a month. If the samples fail, further action will be taken, including the registration of a case.
