BJP Loses Majority, Congress Calls for President's Rule

The political landscape in Haryana took a dramatic turn as three independent MLAs withdrew their support from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. This development has left the BJP short of a majority in the 90-member assembly, with the Congress calling for the imposition of President's Rule.

The three MLAs, Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Golan, and Dharampal Gondar, announced their decision to withdraw support from the BJP and extend their support to the Congress during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This move has reduced the BJP's strength in the assembly to 39, while the Congress now has the support of 33 MLAs.

Reacting to the development, Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda stated that the BJP government has lost its moral right to be in power and should resign. He further called for the imposition of President's Rule in the state to pave the way for fresh elections.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Jawahar Yadav asserted that the government is not under any threat and still enjoys the required majority. He challenged Hooda to prove his claim in the assembly and expressed confidence that the BJP will be able to demonstrate its majority if needed.

The withdrawal of support by the independent MLAs comes amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections and within two months of Khattar taking over as the Chief Minister. This development has further intensified the political uncertainty in the state and could potentially lead to a change in government.
