Belarus Expresses Gratitude for India's Support in SCO Bid, Emphasizes Readiness for Collaboration
The Ambassador of Belarus to India, Mikhail Kasko, has expressed his gratitude for India's support in Belarus's bid to become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He emphasized Belarus's readiness for active collaboration within the SCO framework.
Kasko expressed confidence that Belarus, as a full member, would significantly enhance interaction in various areas, including political, economic, trade, scientific, and cultural spheres. He highlighted Belarus's strategic geographic location and its potential to contribute to the development of SCO cooperation in the fields of economics and security.
The Ambassador also highlighted various initiatives within the SCO, focusing on food security, common transport and logistics development, scientific and technical cooperation, and strengthening humanitarian ties. He expressed confidence that Belarus would make a significant contribution to strengthening and enhancing the SCO's activities.
Kasko also highlighted the importance of regional cooperation between India and Belarus, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and the United Nations (UN). He emphasized the close alignment of Belarus and India's positions on major issues of international peace and security, and their shared commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Ambassador expressed Belarus's interest in bolstering ties with India and appreciated India's consistent support for Belarus's positions in the international arena. He assured reciprocal support from Belarus.
Earlier, in March, Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik also thanked India for supporting its application for full-fledged membership at the SCO. He appreciated India's role in ratifying the memorandum on Belarus' accession to SCO and discussed Belarus' BRICS membership.
