A Three-Way Battle in the 2024 Elections

Jhansi, a stronghold of the BJP since 2014, is set for a three-way battle in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP's Anurag Sharma will face off against Congress' Pradeep Jain Aditya and Bahujan Samaj Party's Ravi Prakash.

Babina, Jhansi Nagar, Mauranipur, Lalitpur, and Mehroni.

In the 2014 elections, BJP's Uma Bharti won the seat with 43.6% of the vote, followed by SP's Dr Chandrapal Singh Yadav with 29.2%. BSP's Anuradha Sharma received 16.2% of the vote, while Congress' Pradeep Jain 'Aditya' came in fourth with 6.4%.

In 2019, Anurag Sharma of BJP secured victory with 58.6% of the vote. SP's Shyam Sundar Singh came in second with 31.1%, while Congress' Shivsharan received 6.2%. Interestingly, Pradeep Jain Aditya, who won the seat in 2009, is seeking to regain victory after 15 years.

The BJP has been actively campaigning in Jhansi, with leaders like UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Home Minister Amit Shah holding roadshows for their candidate.

On the other hand, Pradeep Jain Aditya, a former Union Minister and MP, has emphasized his commitment to serving the people of Jhansi.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has also held rallies in Jhansi, criticizing the BJP government and urging voters to choose change.

The BSP, which had initially fielded Ravi Prakash from Amethi, later replaced him with Nanhe Singh Chauhan. However, the party then decided to field Prakash from Jhansi.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Jhansi promise to be a close contest, with all three major parties vying for victory. The outcome will have significant implications for the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh.
