The fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh is underway, with polling taking place across 14 constituencies. As of 9 am, a voter turnout of 12.89% has been recorded. This phase also includes the Lucknow East assembly bypoll, which is being held due to the death of the sitting MLA.

Lucknow: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh (BJP) is seeking a fourth term from Lucknow. He is pitted against sitting SP MLA Ravidas Mehrotra.

Union Minister Smriti Irani (BJP) is contesting from the Amethi constituency, which was previously represented by Rahul Gandhi's mother, Sonia Gandhi. The Congress has fielded K L Sharma against her.

Union Minister of State for MSME Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma (BJP) is seeking a sixth term from Jalaun. He is challenged by Narayan Das Ahirwar of the SP.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli, a seat traditionally held by his family. He faces Dinesh Pratap Singh (BJP) in this election.
