Congress MP Demands Action from Election Commission

Following the death of a BJP worker in an attack in Nandigram, West Bengal, Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has demanded strict action from the Election Commission. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, involved an attack on several houses by unidentified individuals. Local BJP members claim that the assault was carried out by members of the TMC party.

Chowdhury expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, particularly since the TMC formed the government. He questioned the effectiveness of the Election Commission and central security forces in preventing such violence, stating that if bloodshed is occurring in their presence, the situation could worsen in their absence.

The Congress MP further alleged that the West Bengal government is deliberately discouraging people from participating in the elections. This claim comes amidst reports of villagers in Nandigram raising slogans against the TMC.

Meanwhile, heavy security has been deployed in Nandigram to maintain order following the BJP worker's death and subsequent protests. Polling in West Bengal is currently underway in phases, with the sixth phase scheduled for May 25th. The final phase will be held on June 1st, with vote counting taking place on June 4th.
