Meta Platforms, Inc.'s AI chief Yann LeCun reminisced about his past camaraderie with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, prompting calls on social media for the tech giants to end their feud.
LeCun shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, featuring a screenshot of a 2020 conversation with Musk. The renowned computer scientist and one of the "AI godfathers" simply commented, "Fun memories."
LeCun and Musk have had a history of public disagreements. In 2017, LeCun urged Musk to distance himself from then-President Donald Trump. He has also previously rejected Musk's vision for the future of AI.
Their latest online spat erupted after Musk invited applications for his AI startup, xAI, which aims to compete with Meta, OpenAI, Google, and other industry leaders. Musk also mocked LeCun's definition of what cannot be called science, prompting LeCun to label it "one of the dumbest things anyone has ever said."
