Court Seeks SIT Report on Plea for Criminal Cases

A court in Gujarat's Rajkot has sought a report from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on a plea seeking registration of criminal cases against suspended IAS, IPS officers, and others. The petition argues that the grounds for their suspension are sufficient to register an FIR. The officials were suspended after a deadly fire in a TRP game zone on May 25th claimed the lives of 27 people.

Delhi Reels Under Heatwave and Water Shortage

Delhi continues to grapple with a severe heatwave and water shortage. Many areas are facing water cuts and relying on tankers for supply. To combat water wastage, Delhi Minister Atishi has announced a fine of Rs 2,000 for offenses like washing cars with piped water and using domestic water for construction or commercial purposes. Over 200 teams have been deployed across the city to enforce these regulations.

Delhi Fire Department Receives Record Number of Calls Amid Heatwave

The Delhi Fire Department has been inundated with calls amidst the ongoing heatwave, receiving over 220 calls in a single day. This is the highest number of calls the department has received, excluding Diwali. The surge in calls comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a clarification regarding a reported temperature of over 52.9 degrees Celsius in Delhi's Mungeshpur. The IMD attributed the reading to an "error in the sensor or local factor.
