Gogoi Demands Railway Minister's Resignation Amidst Rising Concerns Over Rail Safety

Train Derailment in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh

On Sunday, a coach of the Delhi-Saharanpur passenger train derailed in the yard of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Ambala, Naveen Kumar, clarified that the derailment occurred after the train's termination and did not impact other train movements.

Earlier in the week, seven coaches of a goods train derailed between Ghaziabad and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in the Amroha yard of Moradabad district. The alternative route between Moradabad-Saharanpur-Meerut-Ghaziabad remains open for train movement. No casualties were reported in either incident.

Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi criticized the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for not taking moral responsibility for the recent train accidents. He called for Vaishnaw's resignation, citing the derailment of four goods trains in the past two months and the Balasore train accident that resulted in the deaths of approximately 300 people.

In response to the criticism, Vaishnaw stated that the government is focused on hard work rather than creating social media reels.
