The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition filed against advocate and AAP legal cell president Sanjeev Nasiar. The petition claimed that Nasiar's law degree was fake. However, the university concerned verified the degree and confirmed its authenticity.
The petition was filed by Naresh Chandra Gupta, former president of the Delhi Bar Association. Gupta also claimed that the law degree of another advocate, Dilip Kumar Rana, was fake.
Justice Sachin Datta, who heard the petition, noted that the university had confirmed the authenticity of Nasiar's degree. He also requested that the verification of Rana's degree be expedited.
The court also noted that the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) had already been directed to place a complaint regarding Rana's degree before a High-Powered Committee constituted by the Supreme Court. The committee was tasked with verifying the authenticity of Rana's degree.
The BCD had filed an affidavit stating that the necessary documents had been forwarded to the Secretary of the Bar Council of India, who is the Nodal Officer of the High-Powered Committee.
The court requested the High-Powered Committee to expeditiously conclude the verification of Rana's degree.
The petition was based on the allegation that Nasiar holds the position of Vice-Chairman of the BCD despite not being qualified. The petition also alleged that Rana had obtained his enrolment with the BCD based on forged documents.
The court did not comment on these allegations. However, it did note that the BCD was not taking any action against Nasiar or Rana.
