Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri Discusses Bilateral Matters with Nepal Officials

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri recently visited Nepal and held productive discussions with various high-level officials. During his visit, he met with Nepal's Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba to discuss bilateral matters of mutual interest and explore avenues to enhance cooperation across different sectors. Additionally, Misri engaged in talks with Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, President, and the Prime Minister of Nepal, conveying greetings from the Indian leadership and briefing them on the progress in bilateral cooperation.

One of the key areas of focus during the discussions was the significant progress achieved in recent years in bilateral cooperation between India and Nepal. Both sides expressed satisfaction over the advancements made in areas such as physical and digital connectivity, energy cooperation, and people-to-people ties. Furthermore, particular attention was given to the power sector cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the increase in Nepal's hydropower exports to India and the positive impact on Nepal's revenue and India's clean energy supply.

Moreover, the visit highlighted the successful implementation of infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, integrated check posts, cross-border railways, and petroleum pipelines. The joint efforts also included the inauguration of the 'Nepal Bhasa Parishad', a cultural sector reconstruction project supported by the Government of India post the 2015 earthquake. Both nations affirmed their close and friendly relations, acknowledging the historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties that form the foundation of their strong bilateral partnership.
