Punjab CM Responds to Gadkari's Letter on Attacks on Engineers and Contractors

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has responded to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari's letter regarding alleged attacks on engineers and contractors in Jalandhar and Ludhiana. In his response, Mann clarified the reasons behind the incidents and assured Gadkari of the Punjab Police's commitment to ensuring the safety of NHAI personnel.

Mann explained that the Jalandhar incident stemmed from the over-excavation of land by the NHAI contractor, while the Ludhiana incident was a result of the contractor's non-payment of financial dues to its subcontractor. He emphasized that both cases were attributable to the concessionaire/contractor and not due to any security lapses.

The Chief Minister also informed Gadkari that the local police have promptly registered FIRs and made arrests in both cases. He further assured that the Punjab Police, known for its excellence, is committed to addressing the safety concerns of NHAI and has deployed patrolling teams in the area to maintain law and order.

Mann's response comes after Gadkari expressed concern over the attacks and urged the state government to take corrective measures. Gadkari had highlighted the potential impact of such incidents on ongoing projects and the confidence of NHAI personnel.

The Chief Minister's response aims to address Gadkari's concerns and assure him of the state government's commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for NHAI projects and personnel.
