BJP and TMC Trade Accusations, Sparking Unrest and Investigation

A Clash of Accusations

The incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has sparked a war of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

BJP alleges evidence destruction, TMC blames Left and BJP

Sukanta Majumdar, the West Bengal BJP president, claims that the vandalism was an attempt to destroy evidence related to the death of a post-graduate trainee doctor. He alleges that 2,000-2,500 people entered the medical college late at night, beating and threatening doctors while the police remained silent. He further criticizes the TMC government for failing to maintain law and order in the state.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleges that the Left is colluding with the BJP to create unrest in West Bengal. She claims that the mob involved in the vandalism was not connected to the student movement and were "BJP people" who created a ruckus inside the hospital.

The incident and its aftermath

The vandalism occurred on August 14 when a mob entered the RG Kar Hospital campus, causing damage to the protest site, vehicles, and public property. Security officials were forced to intervene to disperse the crowd.

The incident followed the death of a post-graduate trainee doctor on August 9. The victim's family has alleged that she was raped and murdered, sparking nationwide protests by doctors and medical fraternities.

An ongoing investigation

The investigation into the death of the doctor and the vandalism at the hospital is ongoing. Both the BJP and the TMC have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. The incident has further strained the already tense relationship between the two parties in West Bengal.
