Sumitomo Rubber Industries Unveils Innovative Synchro Weather All-Season Tire

Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., a prominent tire manufacturer in Japan, launched a groundbreaking all-season tire named Synchro Weather, aiming to excel on both icy and snowy roads where traditional all-season tires struggle. This new tire line is unveiled with advanced technology that enables the rubber to adapt its performance according to the temperature and level of wetness on the road, promising a safe driving experience in various weather conditions. Satoru Yamamoto, the president of Sumitomo Rubber, described the Synchro Weather product as a unique innovation that marks a significant departure from conventional tire technology, emphasizing that it will revolutionize the concept of automobile tires moving forward.

Scheduled for release under the Dunlop brand on October 1, Synchro Weather is expected to be positioned as a premium offering within the Dunlop lineup, catering exclusively to the Japanese market initially. The innovative rubber material used in Synchro Weather softens in wet conditions to enhance traction, and regains its rigidity once dried, enabling the tire to perform like a summer tire on dry roads. Notably, this new tire's tread rubber remains flexible even on icy surfaces, providing superior braking ability compared to Sumitomo Rubber's studless winter tire range.
