Space One Co. Plans Second Launch After March Explosion
Space One Co., a Japanese space startup, is planning to launch its second Kairos rocket in December. This comes after the first launch attempt in March ended in an explosion shortly after liftoff.
Mamoru Endo, a director at Space One, announced the planned launch during a space symposium organized by the Wakayama prefectural government on August 25th. He stated that the company has identified the cause of the March explosion and is confident in resuming launches.
The second launch will also take place from Space Port Kii in Kushimoto, Wakayama Prefecture. Specific details about the launch date and time will be announced later.
The inaugural Kairos launch was intended to be Japan's first private-sector rocket to send an artificial satellite into orbit. However, the rocket exploded just five seconds after liftoff, destroying the satellite it was carrying.
The Kairos rocket is named after the "Kii-based Advanced and Instant Rocket System." Space One is headquartered in Tokyo.
