Vitalik Buterin, one of the founders of Ethereum, recently made headlines for selling meme coins that were gifted to him and using the funds for his biotechnology charity, Kanro. The sale included coins like Neiro, inspired by Kabosu's sister, ESTEE, and Marvin Inu, among others, totaling over $940,000 in the stablecoin USD Coin.
The largest portion of the proceeds, approximately 916,000 USDC, was transferred to Kanro, a foundation created to tackle COVID-19 and related challenges. The sale of NEIRO, with about 70 million tokens worth over $74,000, notably caused a 3% drop in its price, while ESTEE and MARVIN saw price increases of 28.66% and 14.50%, respectively, in the last 24 hours, as reported by CoinMarketCap.
Buterin's philanthropic actions are not new, as he previously adopted a viral baby hippo named Moo Deng and set aside Ethereum for its welfare. Additionally, he has made significant donations, including billions of dollars in Shiba Inu for COVID-19 relief in India. Despite receiving meme tokens from projects, Buterin has encouraged them to donate to charities directly instead of sending tokens to him, highlighting his charitable intentions.
