Delhi Election Commission Partners with Rapido to Offer Free Rides Home for Voters
In a novel initiative to encourage voter participation, the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi has partnered with bike taxi company Rapido to offer free rides home for voters on polling day, May 25th. This collaboration aims to address transportation barriers and make voting more accessible for all citizens.
Eligible voters in Delhi can avail a free ride from their polling booth to their homes after casting their vote. Using the Rapido app, voters can conveniently book a complimentary bike ride. A rider will pick them up from the polling station and safely drop them at their doorstep.
"With the initiative of free bike rides on the polling day, we aim to ensure ease of voting experience and to encourage citizens to exercise their vote and contribute to the democratic process," stated Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, P. Krishnamurthy. "Every vote counts and it is essential to ensure that every eligible voter can cast their vote without hindrance."
Rapido boasts a large pool of drivers and a wide subscriber base in Delhi, ensuring availability of bike riders across the city. Their presence will be facilitated at designated polling booths for voters' convenience.
With 162 candidates vying for the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, this initiative aims to maximize voter turnout and ensure a smooth and accessible voting experience for all.
