The 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held in Paris, France, from July 6 to 16, 2024, after Bulgaria was unable to meet the necessary deadlines and technical requirements to host the event in Sofia. This marks the first time the session will be held outside of a member state since its inception in 1977.

Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Georg Geigriev believes the country's defense industry has great potential and advocates for a stronger EU-US strategic partnership. He also emphasizes the need for EU involvement in ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, while President Radev urges caution and unity within the government on this issue.

An official ceremony and March of Tolerance were held in Sofia to commemorate the 82nd anniversary of the saving of Bulgarian Jews during WWII and pay tribute to the Jews who perished in Nazi death camps. Bulgarian leaders highlighted the importance of remembering this unique historical act of courage and unity that prevented the deportation of 50,000 Bulgarian Jews.

On March 9, 1985, a bomb planted by a pro-Turkish terrorist organization exploded in a train carriage designated for mothers and children, killing 7 and injuring 9. The attack was a reaction to the forced assimilation campaign known as the "revival process" implemented by the communist regime in Bulgaria.
