Australia’s COVID-19 data wraps up

Here is a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID 19 statistics for Thursday, August 18.

In the past day, 43 COVID 19 deaths were reported in the state.

The NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages has reported 43 deaths in the past 24 hours, including 16 deaths notified by the NSW Registry of Births and Marriages.

There are 2,046 people in hospital with the disease, 54 of whom are in intensive care.

The state has recorded 8,149 new cases.

There are 497 people with COVID 19 in the hospital, including 27 in the ICU and nine in need of ventilation.

The state has reported 46 deaths and 4,416 new COVID 19 cases.

Of the 46 reported deaths yesterday, 36 occurred in the past week, another 8 deaths occurred in the past fortnight and 2 deaths occurred in late July, according to the Victorian Department of Health.
