Bos and Herzegovina to start negotiations on deal on criminal justice cooperation

Bisera Turkovi, the Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, met today with the delegation of the EU Agency for Criminal Justice CooperationEU Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation EUROJUST, headed by Agency President Ladislav Harman.

Turkovi and Harman discussed activities to initiate negotiations on the finalization of the Agreement on Criminal Justice Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Eurojust with the aim of improving cooperation with this agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina said.

Harman informed Turkovi that Eurojust currently has agreements on cooperation with 12 third countries, including four countries of the Western Balkans, and he wants to see the agreement with the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina as soon as possible.

Turkovi emphasized Bosnia and Herzegovina's interest in starting the process for concluding the Agreement with Eurojust and expressed the hope that a negotiating team from the BiH side would be formed in a short period of time to work on the draft text of the Agreement.

The officials also discussed the beginning of the EU project dedicated to the improvement of cross-border cooperation in criminal justice in the Western Balkans.
