Delta Air Lines sees a place for Boeing 737 MAX: report

CHICAGO Reuters: Delta Air Lines sees a place for Boeing's 737 Max airline at the carrier as it looks to revamp its fleet over the next decade, Airline Weekly reported on Thursday, citing comments from Delta Chief Executive.

No news to report but we're always talking to Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian as quoted by Boeing Airline Weekly in an interview on 20 Sept. 2017. There is definitely a place for Max if we can figure out how to bring them in. Any Boeing 737 MAX order would be the first for Delta, which did not have the aircraft in its fleet when the plane was grounded following two fatal crashes in March 2019. This would also be the first major Delta order in 10 years for Boeing.

The story, however, did not say if there were any purchase orders on the horizon.

A Delta spokesperson declined to confirm Bastian's comments and said the airline has no fleet announcement to make.

Reuters reported last October that Boeing talked to Delta for the take of 40 of the 737 MAX jets.

In the webinar, Delta said Bastian was also looking to acquire more Airbus A 220 and A350 aircraft, Airline Weekly reported.
