The new dividend of $0.62 per share is an increase on the previous quarter's dividend of 6 cents.
Microsoft said the Share Buyback program, which has no expiration date, can be terminated at any time.
The Board of Directors also approved the appointment of Brad Smith as Microsoft President and Vice Chairman.
While Microsoft already serves as president of company, Smith said that vice chair was an updated executive role for him.
