A piece entitled Asia's New Food Frontier won an Orb prize for its coverage of the rise of edible technology. The article was one of five parts of the Feeding Asia series, Nikkei Asia's debut in visually-rich journalism.
The piece examined developments in new technologies that are intended to feed Asia's growing population against price inflation, climate change, supply chain disruptions and shrinking resources. The article included tastings of lab-cultivated meat and an exploration of 3 D-printed food.
The piece was co-authored by Nikkei Asia correspondents Akito Tanaka, Dylan Loh, Pak Yiu and Jada Nagumo. Jui Chakravorty, special projects editor, led the Feeding Asia series.
