Stocks in Asia, Europe rally sharply

SYDNEY, NSW, Australia-stocks in Asia and Europe went up sharply on Monday.

With U.S markets closed for Memorial Day, bourses in Asia and Europe were in the spotlight.

In early trading, the pan-European Stoxx 600 went up 0.70 percent, with technology stocks up 1.90 percent.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 jumped 587.75 points or 2.19 percent to close Monday at 27,369. 43.

The Australian All Ordinaries rose by 109.50 points or 1.48 percent to 7,522. 60.

In New Zealand, the S&P NZX 50 advanced by 80.55 points or 0.73 percent to 11,145. 50.

South Korea's Kospi Composite rallied 31.61 points or 1.20 percent to close Monday at 2,669. 66.

The Shanghai Composite gained 18.81 points or 0.60 percent, or 0.60 percent, to 3,149 in China. 06.

The Hang Seng in Hong Kong was trading ahead of 400 points at the time of writing.

Around the Sydney close Monday, the euro was firmly bid at 1.0752 on foreign exchange markets.

The British pound increased to 1.2633. The Japanese yen and Swiss franc were little changed at 127.20 and 0.9569 respectively.

The Canadian dollar increased to 1.2694. The Australian dollar was up to 0.7179. The New Zealand dollar went up to 0.6544.
