The 10 fastest-growing cities in the US are in Arizona, Texas

According to the newly released data from the 2020 Census, the 10 fastest-growing cities in the United States are several in Arizona or Texas.

Buckeye, Arizona, a metropolitan suburb of Phoenix, was the nation's fastest growing city in the past 10 years. The city's population has increased nearly 80% to more than 91,000 residents, according to the census data.

Goodyear, another city near Phoenix, was also listed as one of the fastest growing cities in America. The Phoenix was ranked among the country's most populous cities, with more than 1.6 million residents.

Four of the cities on the list are in Conroe from Frisco: Frisco, McKinney, New Braunfels and Texas.

Other growing cities include Irvine, California; Seattle, Washington; South Jordan, Utah; Meridian, Idaho and Kent, California. All the cities are located in suburban areas.

The coronavirus pandemic delayed the collection of census data last year, with the data arriving much later than originally scheduled in some states. Census data are used to redraw districts throughout the country based on population.

The last decennial census was completed in 2010.
