Hong Kong reports 9,219 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths

The health authorities of Hong Kong reported 9,219 new coronaviruses and 13 related deaths on Thursday.

The total number of cases exceeded the 9,000 mark in the last few days, the most in more than two months, after hovering around 8,000 cases over the last few days.

According to the Centre for Health Protection CHP of the Department of Health, 8,500 of the new cases were locally transmitted and the rest imported.

Among the imported infections, 381 were identified at the Hong Kong International Airport, 262 from days 1 to 3 of their arrival, and the remaining 76 during the 4 days 7 days were identified.

As of Thursday, the Public Health Laboratory Services Branch PHLSB identified 224 cases of sub-lineage XBB, six of XBD, eight of BA. Seven of them have a BA. 4.6, 12 of BF. There were 1.1 imported cases.

Seventy-two cases of sub-lineage XBB, 16 of XBD, one of BA. BF has 2, two of them. There were also 1.1 detected among the local cases.

The CHP added that 10,434 COVID patients have passed away in the city during the fifth wave, or 10,647 since the pandemic started here.
