Ukraine says Crimea never returned to Ukrainian control

Kyiv: Ukraine's foreign ministry has criticised Croatian President Zoran Milanovic on Tuesday, saying Crimea would never return to Ukrainian control, he said on Tuesday that Russia seized the Black Sea peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 and Kyiv will not abandon efforts to regain control of the region.

In a statement on Monday detailing his objection to Zagreb providing military aid to Kyiv, Milanovic said that the president of Croatia, who has cast doubt on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko, said on Facebook that it was clear that Crimea will never be part of Ukraine.

Nikolenko thanked the Croatian government and people for backing Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February of last year. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has publicly expressed support for Ukraine.

Nikolenko wrote, "We highly appreciate and thank the government of Croatia and the Croatian people for their steadfast support of Ukrainians in the fight against Russian aggression.
