NAGOYA -- Two toddlers who have apparently fallen from the seventh floor of an apartment building in this central Japan city have been confirmed dead.

On March 24 at 3: 55 p.m., police received an emergency call from a person saying, A child came falling down at a parking lot in Nagoya's Naka Ward in Aichi Prefecture.

According to Aichi Prefectural Police's Naka Police Station and other sources, the two children were boys aged between 1 and 2 years old. A man who was waiting at a traffic light found a young child collapsed in the parking lot. He saw the other boy fall down. The toddlers were taken to a hospital where they were confirmed dead.

The parking lot has nine floors and the children lived in an apartment on the seventh floor. At the time they were discovered, a window in the apartment was apparently open. The police station is looking into details and asking the boys' parents about the circumstances at the time of the incident. My children are gone, when police arrived at the scene after the emergency call, according to the mother.

The incident occurred in an area about 750 meters southeast of Sakae subway station, next to a downtown district. A 19-year-old man living in the same apartment building said he saw the two boys transported in an ambulance. He said it was tragic that the kids died.
