Google issues warning to employees not to return to office

The GOOG GOOGL has issued a warning to employees not to return to the office, following in the footsteps of Meta Platforms Inc. META.

The Verge has reported that Google has instituted a new policy requiring remote employees to return to the office, following Meta s footsteps.

The memo acknowledges remote work necessitated remote work, but emphasised the importance of in-person collaboration and connection to Google's community.

The company said in a separate note that remote work requests will only be considered on an exception basis.

The report notes that employees not designated as remote are expected to be present at least three days a week, with their absences potentially factoring into performance reviews.

Earlier this month, Facebook announced a sudden shift in its remote-work policy by requiring three days a week of in-office presence, which will begin in September.

Salesforce, Inc. CRM, a software firm that focuses on customer relationship software, has introduced a time-limited initiative named Connect for Good. The company is committed to donating $10 for every day that an employee chooses to work in the office.

Elon Musk, who bought Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion, banned remote work at the company, saying that the social media platform needs intense work in the office.
