Asahi Shimbun Announces Leadership Changes

The Asahi Shimbun Company has announced significant leadership changes, with Katsu Tsunoda set to become the new president and CEO, and Shiro Nakamura transitioning to the role of chairman. These changes will be officially confirmed at an extraordinary board meeting following shareholder approval on June 25th.

Tsunoda, currently serving as senior managing director, has been instrumental in driving content generation reforms as the company's chief content and digital policy officer. In his new role as president, he will oversee the execution of operational strategies and spearhead efforts to transform the company's business structure and enhance its growth potential.

Nakamura, who has held the president position since April 2021, will leverage his experience to guide the Asahi Shimbun group in his new role as chairman. Additionally, he will continue to address challenges facing the media industry as president of the Japan Newspaper Publishers and Editors Association (Nihon Shinbun Kyokai), a position he has held since June 2022.
